It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
